Time & Space Feng Shui ~ Annual Forecast

Posted in Feng Shui News by Administrator on the February 4th, 2009

Xuan Kong Fei Xing or Flying Star Feng Shui reflects the energy that impacts our homes and offices every day. The dynamic is based on the concept that energy is in a constant state of flux, as we live in a Universe that is in a constantly moving. This energy is both vibrant and decaying and therefore will impact us either positively or negatively. Vibrant energy empowers us to achieve our goals while decaying energy can hinder our goals and cause health issues. The basic premise behind flying star feng shui is to assess the energy that moves within our spaces and enhance specific points with vibrant energy and abate those areas with decaying energy.

In traditional flying star methods, using form school principles to support and activate vibrant qi and quiet problematic qi is the key behind accurate remedies. Using form is the most powerful way to work with energy, as we note this in nature. Understanding 5 element theory and its phases of support, reduction and controlling measures allows us to find the right element to place in the proper form school position (water or mountain) for either activation (sheng qi) or closing down (sha qi).

Flying star feng shui is an advance technique that requires close analysis and understanding of core feng shui principles. The flying stars are represented by the numbers 1-9 as they move in a sequential order around the Lo Shu grid. According to ancient Chinese classics, a giant tortoise found in the River Luo showed a mathematical pattern of numbers that corresponded exactly to the Magic Square adding up to 15. The number 15 having significance representing the number of days in a Chinese season, number of degrees in anyone of the 24 mountains on the Lo Pan compass, and 15 degrees of longitude traversed by the sun in 1 hour. Movement of light in terms of space and time tells us how matter is subject to change.

The flying star technique is specific to the year the structure was built. In other words, the earth energy for that particular time period is encapsulated into the structure. Depending on the facing and sitting direction of the building will determine a specific energy map or flying star chart. February of 2004 we entered into a period 8 (Gen trigram) and will remain in this period 8 cycle for 20 years or until 2024. The period or Yun must always go to the center of the lo shu grid whereby the remaining numbers 1-9 are placed in a sequential order. In this system, there are sub-cycles or Yuns broken down into an Upper, Middle and Lower eras that contain (3) 20 year periods aligned to the 8 trigrams, plus the center point gua number 5. This basic chart allows one to determine what trigram number sits in the central lo shu square according to the year the structure was built. In order to effectively determine monthly or yearly energy cycles, a calculation is used to determine what trigram the month or year represents. For an accurate analysis the flying star chart must include: year structure was built, exact facing direction (indicate 1st, 2nd or 3rd mountain), month & year numbers. Only than can a proper analysis begin.

2009 is considered a 9 cycle year. The trigram is Li ~ middle daughter and resonates to the gua Fame or your soul’s mission in life. The element is fire and the nature is warmth, recognition, passion, talent, expansion of ideas and enlightenment, to name a few. The areas of impact in the human body include the eyes, heart, tongue, small intestines and the circulatory system.

If we were to simply analyze the year of 2009 and how it moves on the lo shu grid, then 9 would take the center position. The following is a brief description of where the other flying star numbers would fall in the lo shu grid with an explanation of their energy and basic remedy for that particular star. UNDERSTAND however, these cures are not specific to your personal space because the other dynamics are missing from the equation (year home built, facing direction, and the month trigram number). This would produce a very different chart and interaction of the elements.

East: In 2009 (annual movement), the trigram number 7 resides here. In an 8 period (2004-2024), the 7 star is destructive and may cause fire, theft, robbery or tragic death. Keep this area quiet (mountain like) and place virtual water (glass, seashell, etc.) to drain off this metal energy.

Southeast: The trigram number 8 resides in this direction. This is a very vibrant qi energy and timely bringing with it progressive wealth, especially for young people. Activate this area (water – yang), with a water fountain, fish bowl, door entrance or sunlight to capture and spread the sheng qi.

South: The trigram 4 falls in this direction in 2009. In an 8 period 4 is untimely; therefore, adultery or family break-up is possibly. Bring in additional fire elements to drain off the sha wood energy. The direction will help in this matter, as it is a fire direction.

Southwest: The trigram number 6 resides in this direction for 2009. This is considered a white star energy and a usable star in an 8 period, as in the earlier heavenly ba-gua arrangement the trigram Gen (8) underpins the Later heavenly ba-gua and sits in the NW direction. Since it is timely it presents with an energy of authority and dignity. Achievements can be great especially for those in the military or disciplinary officers. Add additional earth elements (stone, yellow or earthy colors) to this area and keep it active.

West: For 2009 the black 2 star resides here. This is untimely and can indicate abdominal diseases, miscarriage and impact the matriarch (2 kun) or young daughter (west direction). The direction is feeding this sha energy. The best cure is a metal sound (gong or bell) and ring frequently. DO NOT place a metal chime, as this will agitate this sha energy. Keep the area quiet.

Northwest: The 1 trigram moves to this directional position. This is considered a white star and auspicious in an 8 period. Its presence can indicate birth of an intelligent son, helpful area for study and examinations and assists with fame and wealth. The directional energy is naturally supporting this element. You may add more metal elements (outdoors a metal chime) and keep the area active.

North: In 2009 the yellow 5 star resides here. This energy resembles Murphy’s Law…Whatever can go wrong, will go wrong. The direction is naturally causing the 5 sha to lose qi. This is beneficial. You must keep this area quiet and place metal elements. Ringing a bell periodically here will bode well to break up the sha qi.

Northeast: In 2009 Zhen (3) trigram resides here. This star is usable in a period 8 since Gen sits side-by side to Zhen in the later heavenly ba-gua. However, take note to what is happening here because Zhen can get out of hand. You can either experience windfalls in business or legal issues may arise. The direction causes the trigram Zhen to lose qi. To balance add metal and water elements. Just take notice to what is happening. If you should experience positive energy, then leave well enough alone. If not, add some fire to drain 3 – wood energy and quiet the area down.

Remember, the analysis above was merely based on one aspect of a flying star chart (annual star 9 for 2009). To effectively balance the energy within your own space the other parts of the equation MUST be added in. 2009 Yin Earth Ox Year

Posted in Feng Shui News by Administrator on the February 2nd, 2009

The Chinese Solar calendar brings in the New Year when the sun enters the ecliptic position of 315 degrees, which is around February 4th on the Gregorian calendar. This is considered the mid-point between the Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox, a point of new growth deep beneath the earth. This is a time in nature when yin energy has reached its’ maximum point and yang energy begins to build in preparation for spring to emerge. But unbeknown to many, the Yin and Yang also play an important role in the Chinese calendar years. These being the years ending in odd numbers are Yin, while the years ending in even numbers are represented by Yang. This means that 2009, is an Ox year that will have the Yin influence or a quieter, slower and tranquil feel.

The Ox symbolizes the attainment of prosperity through fortitude and hard work. The underlying tone of the Ox year is patience, perseverance, dependability and dedication. The Earth OX energy in particular is about ideals and principles; therefore, you may notice these attributes being very important in whatever you pursue for 2009. Undoubtedly the Ox energy of security and stability is welcomed this year, especially since the economy has shaken these qualities to the core.

Political Impact:

Our 44th president, Barack Obama was born on August 4, 1961, a Metal Ox. The earth ox year is positive for the metal ox providing many resources for him. The key is that President Obama should not allow his strong will to overshadow his common sense, as this could deter his goals and relationships closer to home. President Obama, being an Oxen; knows what it takes to get the job done. He will work tirelessly but also expects others to follow everything he says. Oxen are natural leaders and teachers and believe it is their way or the highway. In one respect, it is this type of personality that is needed to bring some order back to this nation. However; President Obama must be prudent in his actions and not overlook those who offer advice. This is extremely important when it comes to his closest friends. Born on a yin earth day, it is those closest to him that will offer the best advice and help him to fight against the temptations of power.
The public will look not only to President Obama to correct society’s ills, but to all those who hold authoritative positions. 2009 will place the burden on world leaders, CEO’s and community organizers to make much needed changes.

1949:

This was the last yin earth ox year and history shows it was a time of coming together with the creation of NATO. Minor tensions existed between Russia and the United States, but there were no major conflicts between other nations. Earth over Earth qualities, as seen in 1949 and today, lends itself to mediation and rebuilding efforts.

Financial Overview:

This double earth year (Earth Ox) does bring in more stability and harmony when it comes to stabilizing the markets. In the previous year (Rat), the water element brought in worry and fears, something we as a nation witnessed first-hand. Although the Earth Ox year brings in stability, it is going to be more about rebuilding the economy rather than seeing the markets bounce back. Without the fire element, banks will likely be clamoring to stay afloat. Banks represent the metal element and without the element of fire (melting metal to make tools); then the ability to make use of bank assets becomes a struggle.
The overall theme in 2009 will be “tightening of one’s belt.” Large and small companies alike will look to trim the fat and focus on customer service. Industries that will fare well this year are those who are teachers, medical staff, tradesmen, and builders. These are professions that build foundations whether in knowledge, health or in the home. The ox energy is all about building a strong foundation in a methodical nature.

Relationships:
The Ox is serious in nature. Therefore, this is a year where you either commit to your relationship or let it go. There is no in between when it comes to the Oxen. If you are with someone you love, then this is the year to get engaged or marry this person.

Compatibility of other Animal Signs:

There are a total of 12 Animal archetypes in the Chinese Astrology system. Each animal resonates to the monthly cycles of time. When assessing a 4 Pillars chart there are many aspects that come into play. When looking at a yearly forecast (i.e.: Earth Ox Year) only one point of reference is analyzed. Every person has a unique profile based on the hour, day, month and year of birth. Each pillar will reflect different animals and elements. How each of these animals and elements impact the self element (day pillar) is the key to the interpretative process. As a new year enters, so too does an element and animal (i.e.: 2009 Earth Ox). These qualities will impact every chart differently. Below is simply a relationship between different year animals and the OX (2009). The following sound bites are simply how you may experience the ox energy on a social level or with the outside world. This is generalized, as specifics can only be ascertained with a personal chart analysis.

The Ox (2009) is part of the Second Triangle of Affinity with its counterparts of the Snake and Rooster. All three signs are fixed in their views and planning systems. They are the most intellectual signs of the cycle. These signs prefer to act independently, yet will seek each other out.

Rat: This can be a tough year for you in terms of work load. Be careful to pace yourself, as burn out can be a real factor. It is a good year to expand your knowledge so you become more marketable in the financial world.

Ox: This is a protective year for you. There is great opportunity on every level, so go ahead and reach for the stars. Keep finances under check and know that slow and steady wins the financial race.

Tiger: A busy year for this zodiac sign. The key is to remain focused and keep to schedules (not an easy task for the Tiger) and the rewards will pay off for 2010. Keep your temper in check when it comes to your relationships and tighten your belt in the financial arena. It is time to pay off your debts.

Rabbit: No dramatic moves in business for you this year, but you will cultivate very important contacts for a business move in 2010. Keep your nose to the grindstone even if it means you are not being compensated appropriately for all your efforts.

Dragon: This is not the year for you to shine, but it is however the time for you to hone in on your persuasive selling skills. Learning how to be a good team player will pay off in the long run. Patience…your time will come to shine.

Snake: This is a great year for the snake, especially when it comes to winning over potential employers or a lover. It is a time to venture out and discover who you are. Financially show some restraint and the latter part of the year will prove to show some gains.

Horse: Onward and upward is the trend for you this year. Stay focused on your goals and the possibility of reaching them is real. This can be a bumpy year for you when it comes to romance. Think things through before doing anything rash.

Sheep: The sheep is in conflict with the ox energy and for that reason you may experience some difficulties this year in business and finances. It will be important to keep your friends close to you and rely on them. Financially speaking, it is time to get rid of those bills once and for all. Instead of trying to grow your business just maintain a status quo.

Monkey: The key this year is to focus on one or two projects and give it your all. This will pay off tremendously for the future. Your health is robust this year and bodes well for starting a family or increasing the size of it. Financially, it is a good time to feed your retirement funds and expand your portfolio.

Rooster: The year of the Ox is all about finding your true nature. People will recognize your wisdom and come to you for advice. Take time to meditate more often and cultivate your inner spirit. If you have your own business, this is the year to expand.

Dog: Steer clear of any conflicts this year and resist the urge to isolate yourself when things are not boding well for you. Voice your needs in your personal relationships and you will improve your love life. It is not a good year to enter into financial partnerships. You will fare much better on your own.

Pig: The pig loves parties and having fun, but this year you need to step up to the plate and pull your load. This is a good year for personal relationships and a very good year for financial business dealings, especially when it comes to travel related business. Watch your health this year.

Many Blessings in 2009!
